Swishing a three out of the gate Friday night set the tone for the panther’s high scoring weekend. The boys played back to back Friday and Saturday night with wins over Martinsville and Franklin Central. The panthers defeated Martinsville with a final score of 62-28. Returning home on Saturday night the panthers cruised past Franklin Central with a final score of 70-34.
Against the Artesians Friday night the panthers were hot right away making their first four shots setting the score at 11-2. Adding to the excitement, freshman Anthony Leal made his first varsity start of the season, also scoring the team’s first three points. Leal finished the game with 13 points. The panthers dominated the first half, ending the first quarter with a score 28-2. South was locked in on defense holding their opponent to only five points at half-time.
Midway through the season the panthers are doing well with a record of 11-4 and undefeated in their conference at 4-0. The panthers are currently on a six game winning streak and hoping to continue their success in their next conference game at Terre Haute South this Friday January, 27.
