The term “promposal” has been coined by millennials to describe an act beyond simply asking the question, “Will you go to prom with me?” Promposals have reached a new level of grandeur in the recent years; ranging from a clever poster to buying a puppy for a potential date. Here are the perspectives seniors Luke Domer and Sam Helm have on promposals.
Who did you prompose to, and how did you do it?
Luke: I promposed to my girlfriend Lillian McAfee, who goes to North, and I wrote “Lillian, prom?” on the sign at Night Moves.
Sam: I stood “naked” on her porch and held a sign that said “I’m not putting my clothes on until you say yes to prom.”
What gave you the idea for your promposal?
Luke: I didn’t really have ideas for a promposal, but my dad owns Night Moves and his signs are always a big hit, so I asked him if I could use his sign and he said yes.
Sam: I found the idea online.
How much did your proposal cost, if anything?
Luke: It didn’t cost anything!
Sam: Nothing!
Do you feel like there is pressure put on people to have crazy promposals?
Luke: I don’t think there is much pressure. I had no idea what to do, but I knew I had to do something kind of big because all my friends had. Lillian wouldn’t have cared, but I did one anyway.
Sam: You definitely have to find something good; but it’s fun.
