Pumpkin-free fall desserts

Pumpkin-free+fall+desserts

While pumpkin is a popular and coveted fall flavor, it can be difficult to find fall recipes that don’t include the ingredient. These recipes are festive, fun and 100 percent pumpkin free! Using other uniquely fall flavors such as cinnamon, apple and maple, these treats are perfect to bring to a party or just to snack on while you watch your favorite fall-themed movies.

Frosted Maple Snickerdoodles

A fun take on the classic snickerdoodle, these cookies are very simple to make. It is a very easy recipe to follow and takes less than 20 minutes to prepare and bake the cookies.

Pro-tip: The cookies may still look underdone after eight minutes in the oven, but any more time spent baking will make them less chewy and more brittle.

Slow Cooker Mexican Hot Chocolate

Not a fan of the tasteless hot chocolate made with powder? No problem. Using bittersweet chocolate, spices and sweetened condensed milk, this recipe is rich in flavor and very warming, perfect for a cold fall night. The recipe is a little more labor intensive than the last and has to be prepared ahead of time, as it takes a couple of hours in the slow cooker to meld all of the flavors together. However, the results are well worth the wait.

Pro-tip: Make sure to mix the water and powdered cocoa separately like it says in the recipe, or you will have floating, unmixed powder on the surface of your hot chocolate.

Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls

This is the most time-consuming recipe of the bunch, but don’t let that steer you away. The gooey cinnamon rolls are insanely flavorful and perfect for breakfast or any other occasion. The yeast used is fast rising, so you don’t have to spend hours waiting for the dough to rise. An added bonus is the delicious, candle-like scent that will float through your house as you bake the rolls.

Pro-tip: Put aluminum foil on the bottom of your baking pan to minimize the mess.
