On Thursday, May 15, seniors of MCCSC went back to their old elementary school. This is a tradition that takes place every year where high school seniors have the opportunity to walk the same halls they did during their elementary school years and reconnect with their elementary peers. This is a nostalgic experience for the seniors and it gives the elementary kids a peek of themselves in the future.
This day is important to high school students because they get to look back on their achievements and the challenges they endured.
Senior Lucas Smith, who went to Templeton Elementary, said “It felt kind of like a victory lap walking through that school.” Smith highlights how Templeton was a big part of his childhood, and that he still keeps in touch with people that went to Templeton during his elementary years. “I wanted to go back there and re-experience, you know, just being in the building the last time.”
Senior Claire Johan, who went to Rogers and Binford Elementary, decided to skip the AP physics exam in order to take part in the tradition. “I decided to go to something that would mean more to me in the long run than something that wouldn’t.”
Emma Ford, a social worker at Rogers Elementary, gave a special message for the seniors, stating, “Have confidence in your future and know you’re going to do great things.”
