Bloomington South Events
Phantom of the Opera
Sounds of South’s “Phantom of the Opera” by Andrew Lloyd Webber is sure to be an event filled with drama and astonishing musical performances. Catch a 7 p.m. performance on October 18th or 25th. Tickets can be purchased in advance but can also be purchased at the door. Student tickets are $10 and adult tickets are $25.
Pumpkin Patches and Fall Produce
Fowler Pumpkin Patch
Visit Fowler Pumpkin Patch Tuesday-Thursday from 4-7 p.m. or Friday-Sunday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. to buy pumpkins and enjoy the corn maze. They also have events including Haunted Hayride on October 18th and Trunk or Treat on October 22nd. The pumpkin patch will be open until November 1st.
Bethel Lane Farm Stop
Stop by this family owned farm stop for apples, pumpkins, cider, and more locally produced goods. Located about 15 minutes northeast of Bloomington, Bethel Lane is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day of the week and is a great place to find homegrown, fall produce closer to town.
City of Bloomington Events
Sustainability Spooktakular
The City of Bloomington joined the Zero in Bloomington initiative to host this sustainability challenge. The event is meant to encourage residents to get involved with the community for the benefit of our shared environment. There is a series of in-person activities, including a tree planting day on October 25th with Canopy Bloomington. South’s very own SAGE Club will be coordinating a group of South students to participate. There will also be a block party at Butler Park after the tree planting session with live music and food trucks.
Skate and Scare
Another event hosted by the city, Skate and Scare, offers ice skating, spooky music, and a haunted locker room at Frank Southern Ice Arena on Saturday, October 18th from 7-9 p.m. This event is open to all ages, making it a great opportunity for families.
Independent Events
Murder Mystery Night at Morgenstern
Morgenstern Books is hosting a murder mystery party in their cafe on Friday, October 31st from 6:30-8:30 p.m.. Team up with 4-6 other people and grab one of Morgenstern’s special, autumn beverages. Be sure to purchase tickets prior to the event.
Halloween Movies at the Buskirk-Chumley
Buskirk-Chumley Theater will be showing scary movies in the weeks leading up to Halloween, including Disney’s Haunted Mansion (2023) on Thursday, October 30th at 7 p.m. If you want to get in the holiday spirit, then this is the perfect event for your Halloween-eve.
Starlite Drive-In Trunk or Treat
On Wednesday, October 15th, Starlite Drive-In Movie Theater will be hosting a trunk or treat and free double screening of Goosebumps (2015) and The Addams Family (1991). Trunk or Treating will begin at 5:30 and the movies start at 7:30. Enjoy the festivities with these nostalgic movies completely for free!
Bakers Junction Haunted Train
This haunted train has scares for kids and adults, and is open every Friday and Saturday from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $10 for ages 6-15 and $20 for ages 16 and up. The haunted train is located close to Smithville on Fairfax Road, and is sure to be a great time for those who love Halloween spookiness.
