May 3 marked the 32nd annual strawberry shortcake festival. This event was originally planned to take place on the courthouse lawn, but it was moved to the Fountain Square Mall due to rain. From 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., patrons purchased shortcake for $5.
The strawberry shortcake included a combination of pound cake, strawberries, whipped cream and a generous helping of Bruster’s vanilla ice cream.
This event was hosted by volunteers from the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington.

These volunteers worked on an assembly line and at cashier stations to create and provide all of the shortcakes. All proceeds from this event will be used to benefit their organization.
