Changing trimesters

The notorious trimesters at South were recently changed to all be 13 weeks long instead of 12.

Teachers had noticed the first trimester was only 11.5 weeks, while second trimester was 13 weeks. During the administrative staff meeting, they discussed “the benefit for students and teachers to have equal time across the trimesters,” assistant principal Kate Ratliff said.

“Teachers aren’t as rushed in covering material, and students aren’t as rushed in trying to get everything done…everyone wins,” Ratliff said.

The changing of trimesters will also affect the dates of final exams throughout the school year. First trimester final exams will be November 1 and 2. Second trimester finals will be February 14 and 15.
