Ways to celebrate Women’s History Month

Ways+to+celebrate+Womens+History+Month

Women’s History Month is a month which celebrates the contributions and honors the achievement of women to society. Here are five productive ways to observe the month:

  1. Read the work of female writers.
  • “Becoming Michelle Obama”, Michelle Obama
  • “I Am Malala”, Malala Yousafzai
  • “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”, Maya Angelou
  • “Bad Feminists”, Roxane Gay
  • “Bossypants”, Tina Fey
  1. Watch films made by or about women.
  • “Period. End of sentence.” (2018)
  • “Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise” (2016)
  • “RBG” (2018) // “On the Basis of Sex” (2018)
  • “Legally Blonde” (2001)
  • “Miss Representation” (2011)
  1. Remind your representatives and those around you why women’s history is important.

Women’s History Month is the perfect time to reflect on the impacts many strong women have made on the world. Research Roe v Wade, protecting transgender and LQBTQ+ rights and women of the Civil Rights Movement. Safeguarding these women’s legacies are just as, if not more important than what they have done to shape our world.

  1. Join campaigns advocating for women’s equality or health rights
  1. Support local organizations helping women.
