Blades hockey players react to the closure of Frank Southern Center

Frank Southern Ice Arena was suddenly closed Nov. 19 to comply with the Monroe County Health Department’s order that indoor gatherings should have no more than 25 people.

Junior Steven Lukes said: “We’re looking into practices in Columbus. Home games will be in south Indy.” “It’s irritating. that things like this keep happening. As a junior, things keep happening that prevent me from showing off what I can bring to the team.”

Junior Matthew Griffin: “There’s no practices. I don’t like it, nobody does, but it’s for the safety of the community.”

The Blades will look to rinks in Columbus and Indianapolis for practice ice time and games. The team qualified for the 5A division of the ISHSHA state tournament, a program first, in 2019-2020. The Blue team finished with a 26-13-1 record.
