As game releases come to a stop for 2021, let’s look forward to the first quarter of 2022 and some of the exciting new games to come.

Weird West

Coming out January 11, Wild West is a top-down action game that takes place in the American southwest. The game is about the stories of 5 bounty hunters and includes some interaction with the supernatural. The player’s action affects the entirety of the game that can’t be reset with respawning.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction

Coming out January 20, Rainbow Six Extraction is an alien tactical shooter with the same mechanics of Rainbow Six Siege. In R6 Extraction you have to defeat aliens known as archaeans. It is multiplayer but not PVP.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Coming out on January 28 is Pokemon Legends: Arceus. This new Pokemon game takes place in the Hisui region (Early Sinnoh Region). Your goal is to complete the first Pokedex. There is no set path for you to go in this game, unlike other pokemon games. Though similar to an open-world game, you must go to specific places to continue the story.

Dying Light 2

Coming out on February 4, Dying Light 2 is the sequel to the beloved zombie slayer Dying Light. This game is set 20 years after the original and has a new protagonist named Aidan Caldwell. Aidan Caldwell is a parkour master, and has over 3000 parkour animations for climbing, leaping, and sliding off ledges. Of course, there are also some new zombies.

Total War: Warhammer III

Warhammer III is a turn-based strategy game that comes out on February 17. This is the newest addition to the Total War series. There have been 2 new Human civilizations (Kislev and Grand Cathay) and if you pre-purchase the game you can also unlock the new Ogre Kingdoms.

Horizon Forbidden West

Coming out on February 18, Horizon Forbidden West is the sequel to the 2017 game Horizon Zero Dawn. In this sequel, there are some new features like underwater exploration, a larger map, and new mechanics for climbing and melee combat.

Elden Ring

Elden Ring, coming out February 25, is the newest game by FromSoftware, the creators of the Souls Series. With similar mechanics, this game is focused on combat and exploration. You must find all of the great runes to restore the Elden Ring and become Elden Lord.

Gran Turismo 7

Coming out on March 4, Gran Turismo 7 will be the eighth game in the Gran Turismo series. This game brings many of its features from older Gran Turismo games. The graphics will also be updated for the power of the PS5 but will still be playable on the PS4.

Grand Theft Auto V (Again)

What a surprise! The beloved GTA V is being re-released once again for the new generation of consoles. This is the 4th release of the game.

Diablo Immortal

Coming out sometime in the first half of the year, Diablo Immortal is a free-to-play game designed for mobile. The game takes place between Diablo II and Diablo III. Though most of the gameplay has changed, some has been made more accessible, like removing mana in favor of a cooldown for skills.

Lego Star Wars: The Sky Walker Saga

Coming out in the first half of 2022, the Skywalker Saga is very similar to the original Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. Adding the last 3 movies to the game and updating the combat. Now lightsaber wielders have 3 kinds of attacks and can create combos. Characters with blasters now have an over-the-shoulder view.
