What is Jazz Fest?

Jazz Fest is an annual event where schools from all over Indiana showcase their musical ability in front of judges and professors from Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music. This will be the 42nd year of Bloomington Jazz Fest.

Due to the pandemic, South’s jazz ensemble hasn’t been able to perform in over two years, and Monday, December 6 was their first concert since the start of the pandemic. In addition, some members of the bands have had little to no jazz experience at South due to the pandemic. “Even though it was our first concert for jazz in two years, we did pretty well even though we had to get back in the swing of things this past year,” said Senior Zander West.
