South graduation has been held Assembly Hall for years, but last year, things changed. Due to construction on Assembly Hall, the ceremony was moved to South’s purple gym. While students and parents were worried about this switch, according to Director of Graduation Alan Dick, graduation in the gym was much better than graduation in Assembly Hall.
“We went all out to make it as nice as we possibly could. We received a lot of positive comments. Parents, teachers and students all liked the closeness of it. I had parents say that they could actually see their sons and daughters,” Dick said.
Graduation will be held in the Purple Gym from now on because of the positive response. The graduation ceremony for the class of 2016 will be on May 28 in the Purple Gym at 9:30 a.m.

From everyone I talked to about graduation @ South, the feedback was all negative. Let’s compare some key features:
1. Assembly has nice, comfortable seats; South has bleachers
2. All family members can attend & watch live @ assembly, which is not true @ south.
3. Parking is not a concern, nor a problem @ assembly; major parking issues @ South
4. All along this was to be a temporary move to South, while Assembly gets repaired/remodeled.
