On Saturday, September 23rd, over 100 people lined up outside the doors of the newly re-opened Chocolate Moose. A moment highly anticipated by hundreds of Bloomington and surrounding area natives, the doors to the new Chocolate Moose location opened up. Although it is inevitable to miss the cozy outdoor stand in the parking lot, the new building does not disappoint. Chocolate Moose’s new location mimics the vibe of a hipster coffee shop, complete with dark walls, unique light fixtures, and plenty of artsy photos plastering the walls. The building has an outdoor window where customers can walk up and order from the outside, just like the old location. On the inside, there is plenty of seating and three garage-style floor to ceiling windows that open to outdoor seating on warm Bloomington days.
Many long-time Bloomington residents and natives regard the Chocolate Moose as both a Bloomington staple, and a large part of their childhood. The original Chocolate Moose stand will always hold a very special place in the hearts of those people, but the most important part is that the memory of the Moose stand is memorialized via photographs on the walls of the new location. These photos capture the smiles and joy of the loyal Chocolate Moose customers and family. What may be even more important is the Grasshopper ice cream still tastes the same, and eyeballs are still available to turn any order from normal ice cream into magic.
