- What is a solar eclipse?
A solar eclipse occurs when the moon blocks the light of the sun from reaching the earth and casts a shadow on the earth. This can cause a partial, total, or annular eclipse of the sun.
- If I’m not in a science class, will I still be able to view the eclipse?
If you turned in a signed permission slip, then yes.
- Do I need special glasses to view the eclipse?
The potential damage to your eyes could vary on your exposure to the ultraviolet light. For further information, see the most recent episode of the SRT show.
- When will the eclipse happen?
For Southern Indiana, the eclipse will begin at 12:57 p.m. and end at 3:48 p.m. The maximum eclipse time is 2:25 p.m.
- Can I take pictures of it on my phone?
NO! Not unless you want to damage your phone.
- Will after school activities be canceled?
As far as we know, sports will be delayed until 4 p.m., and some are canceled. Check with your extracurricular director to be sure.
- Is the world going to end?
Some people believe the eclipse will cause stock market disruptions, national security issues, power failures, or completely wipe out humanity. However, there is no way to truly tell until the eclipse happens.
