South Speaks: should MCCSC move to a four day school week?

The new idea of a four-day workweek, which is becoming more popular,  is now being implemented in a few schools, including many in the Texas school systems. Shortening the week is shown to make people more productive, as well as allowing for more rest to help students become healthier. These South students were asked what they would think of a shortened school week being implemented at MCCSC and these are their thoughts.

Gianna Stanton, a sophomore, said, “I think that it’s something that would help with mental health issues, and I think it would be great for students to have a day where [they] could focus on themselves and get work done if they needed to.”

Junior Callum Miles, said, “I think the workload would be worse, so that might make me less productive. A three-day weekend would be nice [though], so I think there’s pros and cons.

Freshman Chapman Wolford, said, “That would be pretty nice…[because] I would get an extra day to sleep in.”

Senior McKenna Cook, said, “I think I would be more productive because I’m going to enjoy my time off, and I would wanna make sure that I don’t have stuff to do on my time.”
