On Tuesday, the MCCSC referendum passed with 81 percent in favor. The referendum will help to fund extracurriculars and teacher pay.
“I’m super excited for our corporation as a whole, and Bloomington South specifically, and for the support that our community has provided us with the passing of the referendum, obviously” principal Mark Fletcher said.
In June, the school board approved the referendum which will increase citizens’ property taxes by 11.5 cents per $100. This will supply the school corporation with $7.5 million per year to fund programming in schools.
“The referendum will support all kinds of student programming, all kinds of extracurriculars, our music programs and the amount of teacher support that we need to have all of those good programs in our school,” Fletcher said.
